RECORDING SECRETARY
A cradle Catholic, Melissa spent her childhood as a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Plains, Kansas, where she grew up with her parents and four brothers. She received all of her sacraments there and attended the parochial school through third grade. The parish then closed the school, and Melissa transitioned to the public school system. After graduating high school, Melissa received her associates degree from Seward County Community College, Liberal, KS, and her Bachelor of Science degree in business education from Emporia State University in Emporia, KS, earning Magna Cum Lauda honors from both colleges. It was at ESU that she met her future husband, Barry.
In 1981, Melissa and Barry married and the two settled in Dighton, Kansas, where Barry had just finished his first year of teaching. They remained in Dighton for four additional years before moving to Plains to teach at Melissa’s alma mater, Southwestern Heights High School. While in Dighton, Melissa and Barry were blessed with two sons, Ryan and Scott. However, the family’s move to Plains brought them closer to Melissa’s parents; and, having grandparents close by, was invaluable in the busy lives of teachers/coaches. While young educators, both obtained their Master’s Degrees in Educational Administration from Fort Hays State University, Hays, Kansas.
They remained in Plains raising their sons and teaching until their retirement in 2014 when they relocated to Woodland Park, CO. Both soon became involved in ministry work at Our Lady of the Woods Catholic Church. Melissa served in the hospitality and extraordinary ministries; was a sacristan; a choir member; counted money; and, headed Taya’s Table, a community-wide meal. In January of 2017, Melissa became a charter member of Court Our Lady of Peace #2728, the local court of the Catholic Daughters of the Americans. In September 2019, Melissa was elected Regent for her court and is now serving a second term in this capacity.
Melissa and her husband love participating in Mass, doing charitable work, entertaining, traveling, visiting their family, and spending quality time with their six grandchildren. Being a CDA member provides Melissa the opportunity to be among other altruist women who love carrying out charitable acts of kindness.
Brenda was born into Catholicism and lived in PA most of her young life with her parents, two sisters and brother. She strayed from her Catholic upbringing when she was on her own, but still believed and followed many of the teachings. Brenda earned her Bachelor of Science in Art Education from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and an Associate’s in Specialized Technology Degree from Triangle Tech of Erie, PA. She then relocated to Virginia where she’s been employed as an Architectural Drafter and CAD Manager for over 25 years. Virginia was where she found a wonderful life with her husband Nick and their adopted schnauzers. She made stuffed bears and other animals from old fur coats calling them “Saved Souls” naming each one after a saint and went to many craft shows selling them. Brenda even designed their retirement home on the bay which Nick built. Nick passed away after 14 years together. Brenda’s sister, Chris, convinced her it was time to relocate and helped her move to Colorado. Upon moving to Divide, CO in 2018, Brenda became a member of Our Lady of the Woods Catholic Community. She joined Court Our Lady of Peace #2728 in March 2020 and became a volunteer with TCRAS at that time. Brenda feels she truly found her calling with the Catholic Daughters as she has always loved to help. She’s made many lasting friendships with these incredible ladies who have taught her what it means to be Catholic and to follow Jesus’s teachings. Her faith has truly grown thanks to this wonderful organization. Brenda became her court’s Financial Secretary in 2022 and has been elected to a second term in 2024. She’s also a member of two Circles of Love: Spirituality and Quality of Life. Since crafting is one of her loves, she has been maintaining the court’s scrapbook for the past two years. She’s also serving as the state Spirituality Committee chairman. In 2022 she married a wonderful man, Bryan, who shares many of her same beliefs and interests. They both love spending time with their dogs Abby and Ruby. Brenda still makes time to garden, craft and paint.

Fr. Chance Billmeyer has been working in health, counseling and human services since 1989 - 10 years within homeless outreach and 14 years as the owner of his own health clinic in San Diego. Fr. Billmeyer returned to the seminary after hearing his call a second time and became a seminarian for the Diocese of Honolulu before transferring to the Diocese of Colorado Springs to be near his family. The core of his education came from his studies as a communications and biology major at SDSU. After graduating, Fr. Billmeyer worked with a phenomenally dedicated Irish priest named Fr. Joe Carroll. He helped create the St. Vincent de Paul Village, one of the largest homeless shelter and rehabilitation programs in the United States. During that time, he served as the headquarters' Communications, Public Relations and Business Development Director. This agency operates in San Diego, Palm Springs, Arizona and Las Vegas. It continues to transform lives today with over 530 employees and over 1500 volunteers.Fr. Billmeyer later became the Communications Director for several large international corporations including Novartis, EchoLink AOL Interactive, Time Warner, and Next Proteins. Later he opened his own health center and served the people of San Diego to restore health and to improve lives for 14 years. The health center offered naturopathic medicine, chiropractic, acupuncture, psychological counseling, nutritional therapy, physical and physio therapy, and dermatology. The center continues to be recognized as one of San Diego's leaders in overcoming illness and finding peace. After this time within the secular world, Fr. Billmeyer felt called to a deeper relationship with Christ and the Church. He sold his business and moved to Hawaii. It was here that our Mother Mary spoke to him and said, "Return to me." Fr. Billmeyer re-entered the seminary, obtained his master's degree from Mt. St. Mary's in Emmitsburg, MD and was ordained by Bishop Sheridan on May 30, 2020. He continues to study, to teach, to inspire and to bring people to Christ. In Father's words, "The vision or mission for each of us is to encourage and empower "neighbors to help neighbors," especially those who are in need. There is plenty of work to do in this vineyard. I can't think of a better way to give glory to God and to live my priestly Christian life. As Isaiah 6:8 says, " And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” Here I am, here we are, let us work in the vineyard of God so that we may all meet again on that final day in heaven." To that end Fr. Billmeyer works as the chaplain and executive board member for the Diocese at Catholic Engaged Encounter Colorado Springs, the INFERNO Men's Group, and Catholic Charities of Central Colorado.
